"Honorable President Pelosi,
March 15, 1991, the day of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the United States and Albania, is for Albania and Albanians everywhere in the world a great historical day and a great chance for our future.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of this significant event, I would like to express my deep gratitude to you and to the Albanian Parliament, to you, to the House of Representatives, to the Congress and to President Biden, for their strong and continued support for development, democratization and integration. Euro-Atlantic of Albania.
The restoration of diplomatic relations with the United States of America, the greatest and most powerful democracy of all time, is for Albania an achievement and a powerful stimulus towards development, welfare, democracy, rule of law and respect for the rights of all. as well as increasing the contribution to security and peace in the region and beyond.
Albanians, whenever they have been free to decide their own destinies, have united them with the great causes of the United States of America, as the strongest defender and guarantor of freedom, stability and peace for all countries and all the peoples of the world.
Albanian-American friendship has a long history. The United States welcomed and supported Albanian immigrants from the beginning of the last century and from this support the Albanian Diaspora in America was strengthened, contributed and continues to this day to support the development, welfare, democratization and integration of Albania.
It was President Woodrow Wilson who stopped the project for the partition of Albania in the first years of independent Albania. The alliance, partnership, friendship and loyalty with the United States of America, has not only protected us, but has also multiplied the pace, development and role of Albania in international relations, despite the natural limitations of a small country.
We feel this support during the last thirty years, when Albania joined the third wave of global democratization processes to transform democracy from an ideal into a reality, under the unmistakable leadership of the United States.
We felt this support even when the United States led the fight for the liberation of Kosovo and the construction of the newest state in Europe, the Republic of Kosovo.
The support of the United States is still today the inspiration and the greatest assurance of the deepening of major reforms in the development of the country, the reconstruction of the justice system, good governance, the fight against corruption and the acceleration of integration processes, as a NATO member and towards European Union membership negotiations.
During these thirty years, the Albanian Parliament has been an interpreter of the aspirations of the Albanians, of love, friendship and cooperation with the United States of America, the ally and the greatest friend of the Albanians of all times. The Albanian Parliament will continue to carry out this mission in the coming years and decades.
I express the conviction that the cooperation between the Assembly of Albania and the House of Representatives will increase and expand in the coming years ", stated Ruci.
