Four employees of IKMT (National Inspectorate of Territory Protection) in Saranda have been arrested for abuse of office, after they allowed the construction of buildings without permit in the area of Ksamil. 

According to the police, the arrest of the chief inspector and three inspectors came after 4 months of investigations within the police operation "Mjegulla". 

Also, the security measure "House arrest" was executed for 2 employees of IKMT Vlorë, responsible for the territory of Sarandë municipality. 

Pursuant to the Court's decision, a preventive seizure was imposed on 16 buildings built without permission, in the area of Ksamil. 

"Specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes, in cooperation with the Sarandë Police Station, following the implementation of the plan of measures to combat illegal activities in the field of economic crimes and within the framework of the criminal proceedings registered in the Prosecutor's Office near the Court of the First Degree of the Saranda General Jurisdiction, for the criminal offense "Abuse of duty", have successfully finalized the coded police operation "Mjegulla". 

As a result, the security measures determined by the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Sarandë, on 16.10.2023, were executed for 6 citizens, employees of IKMT Sarandë and IKMT Vlorë. 

Specifically, the security measures "Arrest in prison" have been executed for citizens: 

– A. M., 55 years old, with the duty of chief inspector of the Local Inspectorate of Territory Protection, Saranda; 

- E. Z., 48 years old, B. K., 37 years old, V. Xh., 62 years old, acting as inspectors of this Inspectorate. 

"House arrest" security measures have been executed for citizens E. Ç., 43 years old and D. B., 33 years old, with the duty of inspectors of IKMT Vlorë (responsible for the territory of Sarandë municipality). 

From the conducted investigations, it has been found that these citizens have misused their duty by favoring and allowing different citizens to carry out constructions without permit, in the territory of Sarandë municipality, mainly in the area of Ksamil. 

Also, based on the decision dated 16.10.2023, of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Sarandë, preventive seizure was imposed on 16 objects built without permission, in the area of Ksamil. 

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police said.
