Serb List Will Not Attend North Kosovo Local Elections
The Serb list (the dominant Serb party in Kosovo politics) has declared that it will not participate in the elections in the municipalities in the north of Kosovo, after the date was set by President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani.
"Taking into account Pristina's decision to hold extraordinary local elections in the north of Kosovo, we would like to inform the public that the Serb List will not participate in these elections, nor will the citizens who support our party, of which over 95% are in these spaces", writes Serb List.
President Osmani approved on Monday, December 18 as the date of extraordinary elections for mayors of municipalities in the north of Kosovo.
Yesterday (November 14), Osmani held meetings with political parties with whom they discussed the date of the elections in the municipalities of North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposavic and Zveçan.
"The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kosovo is instructed to undertake all the necessary actions for the organization and holding of the elections for Mayor of the Municipalities: North Mitrovica, Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zveçan, in accordance with this decision and the law in force", it is stated in the decision of the Head of the State of Kosovo on setting and announcing the date of extraordinary elections for the mayor of four municipalities in the north of the country.
After the meeting with representatives of political parties, President Osmani stated that she will address a request to international partners for election monitoring and as much international participation as possible in this election process.
