Shakira Releases a New Song Clearly Aimed at Piqué

Ever since Bizarrap announced that he was going to release a new song on Tuesday, expectations went through the roof. Especially considering that the Argentinian producer was going to release his ‘Music Sessions 53’ in collaboration with none other than Shakira.

Considering Shakira’s recent output, with hits like ‘Te Felicito’ and ‘Monotonia,’ everyone was expecting the singer to reference her separation from Gerard Piqué which was announced early last summer, especially considering that a fragment of the lyrics leaked before the song came out.

However, no one expected Shakira to be so blunt and direct when it came to talking about the former FC Barcelona star. “I’m not coming back to you even if you cry and beg. It's not my fault if you get criticism, I just make music, sorry if you’re in the splash zone," "women don’t cry anymore, women get paid,” are some of the lyrics of the song.

Shakira takes aim at Clara Chía

Furthermore, the Colombian singer also dedicated a few bars to Piqué’s new girlfriend, Clara Chía: “She has the name of someone nice, which is clearly not what it sounds like. She has the name of someone nice, clearly just like you. For guys like you. I was too big for you, so you found someone just like yourself.”

Shakira had much more to say, including phrases like “you traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.” Please, someone take Piqué to the burn unit.

In just 6 hours, and as it was expected, the song has gone viral. Not only is it trending on Twitter with thousands of interactions and comments, but it’s also been played over 20 million times on Youtube.
