Shengjin Port Employees Protest for Lack of Salaries
Employees of Shengjin Port have raised once again in protest this Friday, as they argue that they have not received their salaries for almost 3 months.
According to the local media, they gathered inside the premises of the company, where the employees asked for a solution to their problem.
Head of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania, Col. Nikolaj, was also present at their meeting, who requested that the institutions take measures and that the situation be resolved.
"We came to the port today, since they have not been paid for days, but in addition to that, they have faced a series of problems that have worsened over the years. The Confederation guarantees that it will protect these employees not only against the employer but also against justice. As we were informed today, there are deeper problems here than administrative ones, since the State Control has left tasks that have not been implemented, it is said that there is traffic of political interests and corruption. We will do our best to ensure that the employees receive their salary and are treated properly," he said.
Asked why some employees received their salaries and the vast majority did not, Nikolaj said that the "employees are scared, it is an election campaign and it is unfortunate that they are being used."
There are about 117 employees in this enterprise who have expressed concerns about salary problems, after the financial difficulties that the Port Authority has been facing for months.
Few days ago (March 21), the employees protested about not receiving their salary, where they warned of a work stoppage if they were not given a solution.
