Tirana Mayor Receives Prominent Albanian Boxer

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj received in a meeting the Albanian boxer, the champion in the IBF version, Florian Marku, for whom he said that with the last triumph in London he made all Albanians proud. Symbolically, he gave the Tirana Clock Tower to the Albanian champion.

"You raised our heads in a very difficult moment. Two years ago we had a strong earthquake, then a pandemic - we had our heads down not because of our own faults, but because of some challenges we did not ask for. Thank you for inspiring us and making us very, very proud," he said.

Veliaj also revealed the big news that next year, when Tirana receives the title of European Youth Capital, Floriani will return to play a spectacular boxing match.

"It is no secret that we will organize an extraordinary match next year in Tirana, in the hope that the restrictions from Covid have passed. You live in England, in London, with an hour of difference, but this is always the clock of Tirana, to turn your head back a little and to remember that we have to plan this mega activity ", said the mayor, giving the Tower of the Clock.

Florian Marku thanked all Albanians for their support. "I was waiting for this moment. The invitation from the mayor of Tirana is something big for me. I thank all Albanians for their great support and I can not wait to return to Albania, to defend my titles here, in a giant stadium", affirmed the Albanian boxer.
