Tirana Municipality to Help Ukraine with Schools' Reconstruction
The Municipality of Tirana will help Ukraine with the reconstruction of schools and will provide its expertise for the recovery of Ukraine as a result of the war. One day after the meeting with the President of Ukraine, Mayor Erion Veliaj writes that "we have committed to rebuild schools there".
"Very happy to meet with President Zelenski in Kiev, who expressed his gratitude for the support of Albania and Prime Minister Rama in the Security Council, housing refugees and any other assistance. Tirana and Kharkiv are sister cities - we have pledged to rebuild schools there and provide our expertise in the recovery of Ukraine", emphasizes Veliaj.
Meanwhile, the mayor Erion Veliaj expressed his gratitude to Dario Nardella, the President of Eurocities who took the lead of the first 8 cities that took the initiative to start the reconstruction of Ukraine.
"I am very proud of Dario Nardella - our President of Eurocities - who took the lead of the first 8 cities that initiated the process of efforts to rebuild Ukraine, which I hope will be followed by other cities. Albania, with the recovery after the earthquake, can teach many lessons that are worth listening to", says Veliaj.
The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj was part of the group of Mayors of European Cities of Eurocities in support of Ukraine. In the presence of President Zelenski, the Chief of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak and the President of Eurocities Dario Nardella, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the sustainable reconstruction of Ukrainian cities.
