Tokyo 2020 Finals, Albanian Athlete Ranked 13th
Luiza Gega, the Albanian athlete participated on the track of Tokyo Stadium for the grand final in the 3,000-meter hurdles, where in the end she was ranked 13th, with a time of 9: 34.10.
It is a historic event for our athletics, as for the first time an athlete from Albania participated in the finals of the Olympic Games.
Luiza Gega managed to secure a place among the 15 best athletes in the world, thanks to an excellent performance made in the qualifiers. The 32-year-old recorded a time of 9.23.85, positioning fifth in battery 2 and 11th in the overall standings, in a race where 41 athletes competed. We recall that qualifying for the finals was also the main objective that Luiza Gega had for "Tokyo 2020".
Gega was the last Albanian athlete to compete in this year's Olympics. The Albanian delegation performed better than in "Rio 2016", which culminated with Briken Calja fourth in the world in weightlifting and with Luiza Gega finalist in 3 thousand meters with obstacles.
