US-Albania Sign Memorandum on Economic Cooperation

Albania and the United States have signed a memorandum of economic cooperation between the two countries in Tirana.

During an official visit, U.S. State Department's Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Keith Krach and Prime Minister Edi Rama signed a memorandum that, according to Rama, will significantly open a new chapter for direct investment not only American, but also of other foreign countries in Albania.

Krach thanked the Albanian government for the access to 5G and the alignment alongside many other NATO countries in the clean network.

Part of this agreement is the investment of the Skavica hydropower plant, in which the American state will finance even in expertise.

"We encourage businesses to continue in this business, where the US government has taken the first step, introducing and engaging itself to support with its expertise and technology, as well as funding, for the construction of Skavica. I consider the great impact that this step will have, but also the other steps of American companies. We will do our best so that the money coming from friendly countries does not have obstacles and translates into economic growth, employment and mutual benefit", said Rama.

Rama thanked President Trump for the assistance provided to Albania and for the agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia.
