US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, declared that the United States of America is always supportive of Albania. 

The statement was made during the participation in the conference "US-Albania relations during the 20th century" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 

Diplomat Kim emphasized that no one could have predicted that Albania would make so many advances since the fall of the communist system. The ambassador reminded the participants of the conference that throughout the last century, the United States has stood by the Albanian people and, mentioning the historic speech of the American Secretary of State James Baker in 1991, "we are with you and you are with us".

"Ambassador Yuri Kim spoke at the “U.S. – Albanian Relations During the 20th Century” conference today in honor of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries. The conference, organized by the Institute of History and supported by the U.S. Embassy Tirana, brought together historians and researchers from the United States and Albania to discuss noteworthy events in the relationship during the past century. Ambassador Kim noted that it would be difficult for anyone to have predicted that Albania would be where it is today – even 31 years ago – as a member in good standing in NATO, the former Chair in Office for the OSCE, sitting next to the United States on the UN Security Council, and having formally started negotiations to join the EU. Ambassador Kim reminded participants of the conference that throughout the past century, the United States has stood by the Albanian people, and speaking of U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s historic speech in 1991, “we are with you and you are with us!”, US Embassy stated.
