VCar Insurance, DP Call on AMF to Cancel Increase
The Democratic Party has called on the Financial Supervision Authority (AMF) to "intervene to stop the unjustified 30% increase in car insurance prices".
From the DP headquarters, the secretary of Public Relations in the party, Jola Hysaj, said that "the 30% increase in the prices of mandatory insurance for vehicles is a heavy burden for every citizen because wages are low and costs are increasing every day.”
According to Hysaj, "This is a clear indicator of the abandonment of citizens by the institutions that should protect them".
On behalf of the DP, Hysaj appeals to the AMF to intervene immediately. "Stop abuses and unjustified price increases. Citizens cannot be a source of profit for insurance companies," said Hysaj.
Furthermore, Hysaj asked the AMF to make "full transparency on the reasons for this increase. “Citizens have the right to know why they are paying record prices in the region," Hysaj said, adding that the AMF should create "measures to ease the burden of those who are most affected by the increase in costs, especially the young and the disadvantaged".
"Rising insurance prices are a symptom of a complete lack of oversight and planning. Instead of supporting the citizens, the institutions have chosen to remain indifferent, leaving them to face a market that acts as they wish," said Hysaj.
Last week, Socialist MP Erion Braçe in a public statement described the increase in insurance prices as abuse at the expense of the consumer and added that he will ask the Parliamentary Committee on Economy to exert influence on the AMF to cancel the new prices.
