Veliaj Gives 'Key to the City' to 'Breaking Bad' Actor
As part of the National Day of Activism, which was organized as part of the American Week, the well-known actor of the famous series "Breaking Bad", Roy Frank Mitte, has arrived in Tirana. The American actor, as well as a human rights activist, was also received by the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj who gave him 'The Key to the City'.
Roy Frank Mitte shared his inspiring story of overcoming stigma and bullying to achieve his goals and become a defender of the rights of differently abled people.
"I'm really impressed by how someone who has struggled with special abilities has managed, not by making a drastic change, not by recovering overnight, but by working small steps every day, to show that change is possible and that sometimes you don't see the difference when you deal with different causes on a daily basis, but when you zoom out and understand how each day is worked, either in someone's personal life, or in someone's personal ability, but also in the way one impacts with philanthropy, with the impact one has on other people's lives. As we consider ourselves an agent of change, in addition to being a major player for us, it is an honour to give a 'Key to the City'. I very much hope that you consider Tirana an open door, a second home, where you can return again," said Veliaj.
The well-known actor thanked the mayor as he said that he has heard a lot of positive things about Albania. "I really want to say thank the embassy and your team, Mr. Mayor, as well as to all the citizens of Tirana and Albania. This is a very special place that I have heard great things about for a very long time. And giving me the opportunity to come and meet your citizens and your young people, as well as their desire to develop, is a sign of what you have built here and I see a very bright future for Tirana and for Albania. And you really honored me with this gift! Thank you!" said Roy Frank Mitte.
The National Day of Activism is an annual event organized by Co-PLAN and the US Embassy and was organized in Tirana as part of this year's American Week.
