German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz has underlined Thursday that citizens of Western Balkans can trust Europe, as he added that the latter is complete only with them.

These remarks were made by the German Chancellor at the "Berlin Process 2022" Summit, which started today around 09:00.

"Citizens of the Western Balkans can trust us. Europe is complete only with the Western Balkans", said Chancellor Scholz. 

Western Balkan leaders from Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia gathered today in Berlin to sign 3 agreements providing for free movement with identity cards, recognition of diplomas and recognition and qualifications for professionals . 

Prime Minister Edi Rama is also today in Berlin, Germany, as a participant in the Berlin Process summit. 

However, the summit is chaired by Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, with the participation of heads of government and heads of state from the Western Balkans, representatives of participating EU countries, as well as international financial institutions and regional organizations. 

The Summit will have a special focus on energy security and green transition, as well as the commitment of the region to accelerate the implementation of the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. 

It will also address initiatives to enhance the development of the Common Regional Market, announced under the Berlin Process in November 2020. 

Prime Minister Rama was received by the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, at the start of the day's work. 

Then, Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed the first Session of the Summit with a word on "Regional Cooperation (including Migration Issues) and the Common Regional Market".
