Writer and Journalist Isaku Dies at 66 Years of Age
Writer and journalist Vera Isaku has passed away this Thursday, at the age of 66, after a difficult struggle with a long and incurable illness.
In fulfillment of her wish, the funeral ceremony will be private with the participation of close family circle, as announced.
However, Isaku was born in Bilisht, where she spent her childhood and early youth, and later completed her university studies in literature at the University of Tirana. After graduating from university, together with her husband, the poet Agim Isaku, she lived and worked for a long time in Lezha.
With the launch of the democratic process, she joined the opposition press, being the first female journalist for the Rilindja Demokratike newspaper, and Isaku was also the director of the Albanian Radio-Television and the director of the International Cultural Center.
Vera Isaku's intellectual contributions include a large number of journalistic writings in the domestic and foreign press. She is the author of a series of books in various genres such as novels, short stories, poetry and essays.
In the recent years, she also devoted herself to painting and even opened a successful exhibition with 30 works in 2015.
