Xhaçka Holds Meeting with Albanian Team in UN Security Council
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, during her visit to New York, held a meeting with the Albanian team in the United Nations Security Council.
She stressed that Albania has had a very successful performance in the first months of the mandate, greatly increasing the profile and image of the country in the world.
"Albania will chair the Presidency of the Security Council in June, which is the culmination of our work during the first year of the mandate, not only in terms of prestige, but also because our country will take an even more important role in defining the agenda and work of the Security Council and will have the opportunity to further advance the agenda of priorities and interests of Albania", said Minister Xhaçka.
Referring to Albania's agenda during the presidency, MFA Xhaçka stressed that global efforts against violent extremism, women's agenda, peace and security will be the main priorities. She instructed the team that Ukraine continue to have Albania's attention in the UN Security Council.
During the two-year mandate as a member of the SC, our country will chair the Presidency of the Security Council in June this year and in October 2023, periods during which Albania will have the best opportunity to advance even further the agenda of international priorities.
