'Godfather' of Shkodra Killed in Hail of Bullets

Bardhok Pllanaj, described as the "Godfather" of Shkodra was killed on Sunday at 21:10 with a hail of bullets on the road Shkodra-Koplik.

The 46-year-old is a known name for Albanian justice, but also for Belgian justice. A year ago, Operation Force of Law sent him the property justification form after he was arrested and convicted of several criminal offenses, including in Belgium for trafficking in human beings.

Pllanaj was on trial in December 2018 for "money laundering", 'forgery of documents' and 'illegal construction' for a building valued at EUR 2 million. He was handcuffed in 2018 after it was suspected that he had built the 10-story apartment building in Shkodra with money from criminal sources and without a building permit, which was seized.

But not only that. Bardhok Pllanaj was the headline of Albanian politics in 2014, after being accused of drug trafficking, but escaped arrest. At that time it was reported that "Godfather" hid in the car of former MP Mark Frroku to avoid arrest.
