Archbishop Anastasios of Albania remains in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery on Friday to address severe internal bleeding.

The 95-year-old archbishop, who has been hospitalized at Evangelismos Hospital for eight days, was transferred back to the ICU intubated following laparoscopic surgery to control bleeding in his small intestine.

Doctors say his condition worsened early Friday, despite prior treatment. They have stated that the next 48 hours are crucial for his recovery.
