'No Power Cuts Foreseen During Winter'

Despite the global crisis, Albania will not apply restrictions on the supply of electricity to citizens during the winter.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku assured the citizens that there will be no power cuts. Balluku's statement was made during the inspection of the works in lot 7 of the Great Ring Road of Tirana.

"There will be no restrictions on electricity, just as we do not want to apply the 800 kW band," declared Balluku. For this, according to the deputy prime minister, it is important to have rain.

The decision for higher power price for over 800 kW consumption was expected to enter into force on October 1, but the decision was postponed, as there was an improvement in the energy situation in the country.

Meanwhile, during the inspection of the Great Ring Road, Balluku appealed to residents who are equipped with property documentation to apply to the National Expropriation Agency, assuring them that they will be assisted by specialists to complete the procedures as soon as possible.

For those residents who do not have property or apartment documentation, Balluku informed that a DCM has taken over the treatment of these residents who are affected by the social housing project and until the housing is completed, they will receive the bonus of rent, the same instrument as the one used in the Reconstruction Program.

"In this area, there are more than 130 apartments that are affected by the project, of which only 34 have regular documentation, while about 90 others are without documentation," informed Balluku.

A total of 10% of the work has been completed in Lot 7 of the Great Ring of Tirana, with a length of 2 km.

Balluku stated that despite the fact that the lots of the Ring of Tirana are of the "A" category, it will contain all urban parameters, including lighting, green areas, pedestrian crossing, in order to avoid interference in the future.

The authorities are in the phase of implementing two segments that complete the Great Ring of Tirana: the part from the "Shqiponja" roundabout to Bulevard i Ri and the axis from Bulevard i Ri to Shkoza area. In this axis, works of art and secondary roads are planned to be built, which will connect the ring with other areas of the capital.

The Great Ring of the capital constitutes a segment of 27 kilometers long. Its completion eases traffic within Tirana, while connecting the capital with all national exit roads.
