20 Tons of Cucumbers Blocked due to High Pesticide Residues
The National Food Authority has blocked a quantity of 20 tons of cucumber product, which resulted above the allowed rate of pesticide content.
NFA has carried out verifications and has made the immediate blocking of this amount, while the subject has been left with the task of taking measures for its disposal.
In the announcement, NFA says that it is working to continue the supervision of subjects/farmers, on the use of pesticides and compliance with the product usage deadline.
"The National Food Authority has blocked a quantity of 20 tons of cucumber product, which resulted above the allowed rate of pesticide content.
Referring to the notification received from the importing country, the National Food Authority has carried out verifications in accordance with the legislation in force in the exporting subject of this product, where the immediate blocking of this quantity has been done. The subject is left with the task of taking measures for its destruction.
NFA is collaborating with other law-enforcement institutions, where based on the traceability system administered in the exporting subject, the supervision of the subjects/farmers is continued, on the use of pesticides and respect for the expiry date of the product.
