Fifty-one police officers were injured during a violent protest in Albania, while authorities have taken 65 participants in for further questioning over suspected attacks on officers, public institutions and public and private property, according to the Albanian State Police.

State Police Director General Skender Hita visited injured officers at the Trauma Hospital following the demonstration, which police said involved masked participants throwing stones, hard objects and Molotov cocktails at officers.

According to the police statement, officers faced repeated attacks for more than 14 hours during the demonstration.
