Albania Boosts Security for SPAK Prosecutors Amid Rising Pressure

The Defense Commission at the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) has approved a request to strengthen security measures for prosecutor Altin Dumani, following growing pressure linked to high-profile investigations he has overseen.

The decision was taken after a formal request submitted by SPAK head Klodian Braho. According to official sources, the request was prompted by increased pressure on Dumani in connection with numerous investigations he led during his tenure as chief prosecutor of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK).

During the same meeting, the Defense Commission also approved security measures for several other SPAK prosecutors. Among them is prosecutor Dritan Prençi, who is currently handling the investigation involving Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku.

Prençi had earlier sought the imposition of two precautionary measures against Balluku: suspension from office and a ban on leaving the country — steps that have heightened institutional attention and sensitivity surrounding the ongoing case.
