Albania Needs New Elite; Former PM Berisha
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has declared Thursday morning that Albania has a vital need for a new elite, at a time when the local elections of May 14 are just a few days away.
During a meeting with the Brain Gain Department, the opposition politician climed that the Democratic Party (DP), which he used to run, is a "locomotive of market reforms".
Furthermore, the former premier emphasized that during the time when PD was in power, salaries and pensions increased, while nowadays Albnaia is ranked last in the region.
"DP has a legacy with its own successes and flaws. But it has a remarkable legacy, as it took the most impoverished country in Europe and one of the three poorest countries in the world, and brought it into the group of upper-middle income countries, which was an epoch-making achievement for this country. He joined NATO and other achievements.
I don't want to dwell on the commentary, but I think it is an extremely valuable book. It is a book that, in addition to being distributed, will be published on the DP website. It is a book that inspires the democrats for an even better future than this, for even greater successes than the ones it has achieved. It is a proof that PD is a locomotive of market reforms, it is a locomotive of integration processes and a guardian of the western vocation of the country.
We are on the verge of these elections, of course we cannot help but say that these 10 years, if we characterize them on a philosophical level, have been years of a forbidden time, in the sense that the progress, the development of Albania, the advancement of this process that it is vital for Albania, it was slowed down in an extraordinary way, it was also known back and forth.
Albania, which in 2013 was the country with the highest salaries in the region, was once again the poorest country with the lowest salaries in the region with only 20 percent of its citizens receiving economic assistance and in need of economic assistance", said the opposition politician.
