Albania Recalls Baby Formula Over Bacteria Concerns
Albania’s National Food Authority (AKU) has ordered the recall of the infant milk formula “NAN 1 OPTIPRO” 800 grams from the market after the presence of the bacterium cereulide was detected at the manufacturing facility in the Netherlands.
AKU said the decision followed a notification from the product’s importer in Albania, based on a precautionary recall announced by manufacturer Nestle. The affected batch is identified as “NAN 1 OPTIPRO” 800 g, lot number L51230346AE, with an expiration date of May 30, 2027.
After inspections and traceability checks, AKU said it has blocked all available quantities of the product, including those returned from the market, for destruction or return to the country of origin.
AKU also said on-site checks confirmed that consumer warning notices have been posted in supermarkets where the product was sold.
