Albania Records Highest Number of Daily Coronavirus Deaths Since March
Albania recorded 19 deaths from Covid-19 on Tuesday, the highest number of new deaths in a single day since March the beginning of pandemic according to the data from Health Ministry as experts warned of worsening spread of the disease on the days to come.
According to the Health Ministry most of the victims were from Tirana, 7, two of them were from Elbasan, 2 citizens from Saranda 1 citizen from Librazhd, 1 citizen from Korca, 1 citizen from Pogradec, 1 citizen from Vlora, 1 citizen from Durrës, 1 citizen from Kruja, 1 citizen from Berat, 1 citizen from Shijak.
The country also saw 744 new confirmed cases past 24-hours a slight decrease comparing to a day ago.
At least 34.000 Albanians have been infected with the virus over the course of the pandemic, which began hitting Albania in March.
Based on Ministry's data the number of Albanians currently hospitalized with the coronavirus has been the highest it has ever been, surpassing 450 people across the country. Hotbed is considered to be the capital, Tirana where were discovered the highest number of the infections past 24-hours (307), followed by Fier, Lushnja and Kavaja with respectively 85, 44 and 39 new infections. On the other hand, the lowest number of cases was discovered in Devoll with only 1 infection and Kolonja with 4 cases.
However, a comforting prospect is the fact that 436 citizens have been cured in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 16,666 since the beginning of the epidemic. On a brighter note, this number is higher than a day before, when 388 citizens had recuperated in 24 hours.
At the moment, in the three COVID hospitals are being provided medical services 455 patients, 21 are in intensive care and 7 patients have been put on ventilators. Currently, the country is struggling with 16.899 active cases while the grand total of positive since the beginning of the outbreak has exceeded 34.000.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection appeals on all nationals to avoid unnecessary movements and to limit contacts, also to avoid any kind of gathering of over 10 people so as to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All citizens must strictly follow the rules, not lowering any moment the vigilance for maintaining physical distance, keeping the mask in any environment outside the home and taking care of hygiene, the Ministry of Health pronounced.
