Albania’s Chief Inspector General Shkëlqim Hajdari Resigns
Chief Inspector General, Shkëlqim Hajdari, has resigned from his post, media sources reported on Thursday.
Hajdari had held the position since July 2016, overseeing the Central Inspectorate and a network of inspection bodies, including customs, agriculture and other key sectors. No official reasons have yet been made public for his resignation.
A former prosecutor with more than two decades of experience in the justice system, Hajdari was appointed Chief Inspector General in July 2016 with the backing of Prime Minister Edi Rama, after stepping down as chief prosecutor of Shkodër earlier that year.
During his prosecutorial career, Hajdari handled several high-profile cases, including the January 21 case and proceedings involving former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri.
Authorities have not announced who will replace Hajdari or whether an interim appointment will be made.
