Traffic Restrictions Announced in Tirana Ahead of Democratic Party Protest
Police in Tirana have announced traffic restrictions for Thursday as Albania’s main opposition, the Democratic Party of Albania, plans to hold a protest in front of the Parliament of Albania at 10:00 a.m.
According to an official statement, representatives of the Democratic Party informed Tirana Police about the planned gathering scheduled to take place outside the parliament building in the capital.
To ensure public order and safety, Tirana Police, with the support of the Albanian State Police, said it has taken all necessary measures in accordance with the law on public assemblies.
As part of these measures, vehicle movement will be restricted on “George W. Bush” Street from 06:00 a.m. until the end of the protest, authorities said.
Police also warned that, depending on how the demonstration unfolds, traffic may be restricted on additional roads in the area. In the event of further closures, officers will redirect vehicles to alternative routes to assist drivers.
Authorities have asked for citizens’ understanding regarding the temporary traffic limitations and urged people to distance themselves if they encounter unlawful actions that could threaten public order and safety.
