For the first time in Albania was issued a security measure 'House Arrest' towards the head of the country’s State Intelligence Service (SHISH).

Vlora Hyseni, who has headed SHISH since her appointment in 2023, has been suspended from her duties and placed under a house arrest order as part of an ongoing investigation of the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK), local media reported earlier this Tuesday.

Hyseni was reported that is actually outside Albania, meaning the house arrest order against her has not yet been executed.

The investigation is understood to have developed from evidence seized by SPAK at the office of Ergys Agasi, who was arrested in connection with a separate investigation involving Albania’s National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI). Prosecutors subsequently opened a separate investigative branch that allegedly led to Hyseni.

According to sources cited by Shqiptarja.com, Hyseni is suspected of involvement in two criminal offenses: allegedly assisting a perpetrator of a crime and disclosing classified acts or secret information.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further searches or security measures could follow as prosecutors continue examining the evidence.
