Albanian President Bajram Begaj received the new United States Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, on Saturday as the diplomat formally presented his credentials.

President Begaj accepted Ambassador Wendt’s credentials and wished him success in his new post, according to the Albanian Presidency.

During the meeting, Begaj reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the United States and said the country would continue working to deepen bilateral relations.

The Albanian president said the partnership with Washington remains closely linked to Albania’s foreign policy priorities and its responsibilities stemming from the two countries’ close relationship.

“The United States is an indispensable partner in advancing our national interests,” Begaj said.

Following the official credential ceremony, President Begaj held a one-on-one meeting with Ambassador Wendt.
