Through a press conference at the premises of the Albanian National Olympic Committee (ANOC), the president of ANOC, Fidel Ylli, has announced that the European Weightlifting Championship 2022, scheduled to take place in Bulgaria, will now be held in Albania. 

The event will take place in May in Tirana. This will be the third major weightlifting event that will take place in Albania during this year, as previously known to be official to be held in Tirana, the elections for the World Federation, as well as the European U-20 and U- 23.
