Albania to Host U-17 European Championship in 2025

The UEFA Executive Committee has approved this Tuesday another important decision for Albanian football. The press office of the AFA (Albanian Football Association) announced that at today's meeting, the candidacy of Albania to organize the final stage of the European Championship for U17 in 2025 was approved.

The activity in question takes place with 16 teams and obviously the matches will be played in different cities of the country considering the large number of challenges.

Also, this means that Albania itself, as the host country, has a secured ticket for the final stage of the tournament, a novelty for the national team of this age group which has never passed the Elite Round stage before.

"The Albanian Football Federation has achieved another historic success, bringing to Albania for the first time the finals of a major international tournament for the ages. UEFA has decided to entrust the AFA and Albania with hosting the finals of the 2025 European Championship for the U-17 age group.

The Albanian Federation was one of the federations that had run to host the final stage of the tournament, preparing a voluminous application that was prepared by the AFA administration and then submitted to UEFA.

Recently, the UEFA Executive Committee in the meeting held this Tuesday in Cyprus has voted in favour of the Albanian candidacy, with the finals of the continental tournament to be played in Albania in 2025.

Investments in infrastructure with new stadiums, which meet the appropriate criteria for international tournaments, or even the rich experience of the AFA administration in hosting and organizing international tournaments has again convinced UEFA to bring a major event to our country.

In our country, in May 2022, the first final of the Conference League was organized, AS Roma - Feyenoord, a historic event for Albania and Albanian football. Now is the moment for another important event, which will bring the strongest National Teams of the Continent to fight for the trophy of the European champion title," it is said in the AFA statement.
