Albanian Inmate Jani Aliaj Killed in Greek Prison by Alleged Paid Assassin
Albanian national Jani Aliaj, 49, was stabbed to death inside Korydallos prison by a 28-year-old Greek man reportedly considered a paid assassin, Greek authorities said Monday.
The suspect is alleged to have previously killed 47-year-old Artur Bashimi from Gjirokastra on Aug. 18, 2025, in Agio Pantaleimona. Bashimi, a former convicted thief, was believed to have been killed in a revenge plot linked to his brother, Marsel Bashimi, who is involved in serious criminal cases in Greece alongside Bledar Jambelli and Kristaq Leci, wanted in Albania for the murder of police commissioner Artan Cuku.
Greek police suspect that Aliaj’s killing was also orchestrated from outside prison and paid for.
