Albanian Police Arrest 58-Year-Old After Attempted Bank Robbery in Tirana
A 58-year-old man, Bardhyl Fusha, was arrested today following a failed attempt to rob a branch of FiBank in Tirana around midday.
Fusha, a construction entrepreneur and owner of "2D Construction" shpk, entered the bank unmasked, carrying a bag containing a Kalashnikov rifle. Upon entering, he fired a shot at the floor before approaching the bank’s cash desk, where he managed to take €20,000.
According to authorities, a nearby citizen quickly alerted the police. Officers arrived at the scene within minutes, intercepting Fusha as he attempted to leave. Law enforcement seized both the bag containing the cash and another bag holding the weapon used in the robbery.
In his statement, Fusha admitted that financial debts motivated the attempted robbery. “I am a builder. I had obligations to settle with third parties, which is why I entered the bank; I needed the money,” he told investigators.
Authorities noted that Fusha has a history of legal issues, including prior complaints from clients regarding unpaid debts. No injuries were reported during the incident.
