ALL 1.8B Bank Loans for Agriculture Jan-July

During the period January-July, commercial banks distributed over Lek 1.8 billion of loans to the agricultural sector. The Bank of Albania announces that, compared to a year ago, the specific weight of the loan granted to agriculture increased by Lek 708 million.

Agriculture is a sector with great potential and with increasing demands for credit. With a growing contribution to the country's economy, employment, and exports, agriculture has received the attention of government policies, bringing increased business interest in new ventures in the many fields that agriculture offers.

Experts expect that lending will further expand the sector in the following period, driven by support schemes such as the Sovereign Guarantee Fund, which the government has made available to farmers and rural entities.

Finally, the government has launched the National Farm Investment Scheme 2024, which addresses financing for farmers up to 50% grant of the investment value in the construction of greenhouses, livestock infrastructure; aquaculture fishing, anti-hail nets, and agricultural machinery.
