All Flights to and from Albania Cancelled

All flights from and to International Airport of Albania 'Mother Teresa' were canceled. The reason is the air controllers strike and of all employees of AlbControl.

Albaniandailynews.com has learned that flights are expected to resume Thursday, but nothing is confirmed so far because negotiations between government and AlbControl employees failed.

Air controllers are on strike because their salaries were reduces since April 2020.
The Independent Air Traffic Control Union said that in the absence of a response to the concern raised by them, the controllers are on strike and as a result flights to and from Albania risk being closed for an indefinite period.

"Assessing the importance of security in the field of civil aviation as well as the risk of its violation; Based on the fact that safety, especially in our field of work is based on the good mental / physical condition of controllers as well as their fair remuneration in relation to the importance of the work they perform, we feel compelled to inform the public about the risk of the impossibility of guaranteeing the safety of air flights over and in the Republic of Albania, and the risk of its final closure for an indefinite period of time," said this Union.
