Armed Forces Celebrate 111th Anniversary of Establishment
Albania's Armed Forces were created on December 4, 1912, a few days after the creation of the first Albanian state in Vlora.
Establishent of the Armed Forces came as a natural need of a sovereign, independent state seeking to protect its border from foreign temptations (frequent for the last century).
Albania is considered the second country in NATO in terms of the number of soldiers deployed in missions, in relation to the active personnel of the Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces of Albania, in military operations led by NATO, the EU and the UN, from September 1996 to September 2020, have engaged with a total of 7,808 soldiers.
