Authorities Investigate Cyberattack on Albanian Post as Services Continue Uninterrupted

Following the conclusion of a government meeting, Minister of State for Local Government Ervin Demo addressed the media, providing updates on the recent cyberattack targeting the Albanian Post system.

Demo confirmed that a detailed analysis is currently underway by the National Cyber Security Authority, in cooperation with technical experts from the postal institution, to fully assess the nature and scope of the incident.

According to the minister, despite the reported attack, all postal services continue to operate normally. He emphasized that, so far, there is no evidence suggesting that systems or data have been compromised or encrypted.

“At this moment, a thorough analysis is being conducted by the cyber security authority, as well as postal experts. All postal services are continuing as normal, and there is no indication so far that any data has been encrypted. We must wait for the final report to understand exactly what happened within the Albanian Post system,” Demo stated.

He further underlined that national cyber defense structures possess the necessary capacities to safeguard the integrity of public data, noting that Albania has made significant progress in strengthening its cybersecurity framework. He added that authorities are awaiting the final report to provide a complete picture of the incident.
