The incumbent chairman of the Democratic Party and at the same time the candidate for chairman of this political force, Lulzim Basha asked for unity during and after the internal competition of DP, in order to carry on their battle for change.

Basha held a meeting this Wendesday with the Democrats in the city of Korça. He said that the June 13 race proves that the Democrats have always welcomed the opening, the evidence is also in this race, where many of the candidates are the product of the opening.

“Prerequisite for the victory of this battle, the precondition for the return of democracy, with which these elections had nothing to do, therefore, remains the continuation of this resistance, the continuation of this union side by side with each other. This is for me the number one objective of this internal competition which is dictated by the statutory rules.

This is my first request: to come out of this race as united, in fact even more united than we entered because the historical responsibility with which the Albanians have charged us, the fates of the country, the fates of this city, of this region go beyond the interests and fates of each individual.

This election or this race within the party proves to the whole public that we are an open party based on values, that we are a party of the race, we are therefore a citizenship party, a European party. And indisputably what this race proves, is the Democrats have always welcomed the opening, the evidence is also in this race, where many of the candidates are the product of the opening.

The first step in the continuation of this battle is June 13, where participation and presence in an internal democratic process will show not just Democrats, not just members of our political family, supporters, followers, our voters, but all of Albania that we are and remain the guarantee to carry on their battle and aspiration for change to the end," Basha concluded.
