The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, commemorated former Kosovo President Ibrahim Rugova on his death anniversary. 

Through a reaction on social media, Basha has expressed appreciation for the figure of the historical leader of Kosovo, who passed away 16 years ago.

"Humility with national gratitude, to the Albanians who led the largest peace movement in modern Europe. 

We bow with deep national gratitude on this anniversary of separation from life, before the name and eternal work of Ibrahim Rugova, the symbol of Kosovo's struggle for independence and the Albanian who led the greatest peaceful movement in modern Europe. 

The architect of Kosovo's independence remains an inspiration to every Albanian who has a sacred national interest. His political and intellectual legacy shines as the greatest achievement of a peaceful political movement, embodied today in the independent state of Kosovo," Basha wrote.
