Basha-Krasniqi Discuss Kosovo’s Dialogue with Serbia
Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha has received Friday his counterpart of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, where they have talked about Kosovo’s dialogue with Serbia.
In a statement to the media, Basha said that the DP strongly supports the idea that the agreement with Serbia should be concluded with mutual recognition.
Furthermore, Basha stressed that one of the necessities of the two countries is the fight against corruption, adding that the time has come to shoulder the burden of responsibility that politics brings.
"We talked about the latest developments regarding the dialogue with Serbia. The DP stands firmly in the same position in terms of the objective which is mutual recognition between the two countries. Restoring strong coordination between the EU and the US is a good chance to advance this dialogue.
We shared the views on the need to strengthen the fight against corruption. Weak institutions and corruption are and remain the main enemy.
Albania has a permanent duty as a temporary member of the Security Council, we push forward every aspect that has to do with Kosovo, especially that of international recognition.
It is time to shoulder the burden of responsibility that politics brings. "The youth of Kosovo and Albania have a great role to play", said Basha.
On his part, Memli Krasniqi said that they discussed common topics with Basha, while emphasizing that strengthening of cooperation can be done in many aspects.
"I will start the meeting at the PD headquarters to meet my friend and the leader of the opposition, Mr. Basha. We discussed in detail with President Basha on topics of common concern. Kosovo and Albania have many areas that need to intensify cooperation.
It has been and is an example oh well regardless of whether we are in opposition or government we have priority cooperation. As two leaders of the main opposition parties, deepening cooperation are common tasks. I thanked Mr. Basha for his willingness to deepen cooperation.
I wished him success in the election process, wishing above all a regular process. We as Kosovo have the right to talk about this issue because as a country we have managed to consolidate the electoral process", said Krasniqi.
