Belind Kelliçi is the first candidate within the opposition who has announced that he will enter the primary process and is ready to leave his mandate to compete against Erion Veliaj, if the latter will be the SP candidate for Tirana. 

MP of Democratic Party said that he made the decision to enter the race after consultations with his supporters. 

"I give up the mandate, convinced of the result. I also represent one of the poor administrative units. People are fed up," stated Kellici.  

For Belind Kelliçi, the current head of the Tirana municipality is the weakest candidate that the SP can have and according to him, it will be very easy to beat him in the spring elections of the coming year. 

"The weakest and easiest candidate to defeat. I wish he was the SP candidate in the elections. I am interested in Tirana being freed from occupation. Veliaj is the easiest candidate to defeat in these elections", noted Kelllici.
