Berisha Not Afraid of Appel Court's Decision on Fate of DP Leadership

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha considered a mafia and unconstitutional process that of electing the country's new president.

Berisha stated that this process is based on robbing Albanians of their free vote. Asked by reporters if he fears the court decision in case he is elected head of the DP, Berisha said that no decision can stop the historic mission of the Democrats.

"It is a process that takes place in parallel with a genuine mafia and anti-constitutional process that is that of electing the president of the republic. It is mafia and anti-constitutional because it is based on the robbery of the free vote of Albanians and the slanderous collaboration of Edi Rama with the pseudo-opposition. Today in this process we see the light of hope for the future. There is no decision that can stop this historic mission of the Albanian democrats", said Berisha.

On March 25 this year, the Court of Tirana decided to recognize the Assembly of December 11, 2021 and registered the new statute of the DP issued by that Assembly, in this way giving right to Sali Berisha's Re-establishment Commission. However, the Acting Chair of DP, Enkelejd Alibeaj has appealed this decision on April 22, and it will be the Appeal Court which will have the last word.
