A bomb alert has been reported at an apartment building in Durres’ No. 4 neighborhood, prompting a major police response and the establishment of a security perimeter in the area.

According to preliminary information, a mobile phone connected to a suspicious object was discovered on a street running parallel to the city’s seaport. The finding immediately raised concerns, and authorities were notified.

A large number of police officers have arrived at the scene and secured the area to protect residents and passersby. Preliminary police sources suspect that a remotely controlled explosive device may be located inside the apartment building.

Authorities are carrying out checks at the scene, while bomb-disposal specialists have been notified and are expected to examine the suspicious object.

The incident comes one day after more than 100 institutions across Albania reportedly received bomb threats by email, prompting authorities to investigate a separate wave of threats.
