The group of Democrat MP Gazment Bardhi, which at the meeting of the National Council decided to cancel the elections for the head of the DP, has taken the case to the Court. 

They took the case to the Tirana Court after the group of Former Democrat Leader Lulzim Basha refused to implement the decision. 

"No one has the right to privatize the Party by turning it into a private party. DP members have only one goal of how to strengthen DP. We submitted a file with all the decisions we took in the National Council", said the democratic MP, Bledjon Nallbati. 

The National Council of the DP decided on Thursday to cancel the elections of July 29, 2023. This body, gathered last night, considered the election process within the blue seat, anti-statutory and farcical. 

The National Council of the Democratic Party called by the General Secretary, Gazment Bardhi, demands the deregistration of Basha from the political parties and the cancellation of the July 29 elections. 245 out of 453 members in total participated in the meeting of the DP National Council. 

In the absence of the Chairman of the Council, a steering commission was set up, led by General Secretary Gazment Bardhi. After the General Secretary's report, the National Council found and accepted the resignation of the chairman of the Democratic Party (Lulzim Basha) on March 21, 2022, and the resignation on May 17, 2023 of the Vice Chair of the Democratic Party Enkelejd Alibeaj. 

Meanwhile, the evaluation of the resignations of the Vice-Chairs Agron Gjekmarkaj and Jorida Tabaku, who stand by their resignations, was postponed to another meeting, even though their resignations were not considered irrevocable by the Council. Another important decision taken by the National Council is the suspension of the function of the Headship of the DP.
