Electronic communications operators increased their investments during 2025.

According to data from the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP), mobile and fixed-line service operators invested an estimated 5.8 billion lek, representing a 12% increase compared to the previous year.

Based on AKEP data, mobile service operators invested approximately 2.5 billion lek during 2025, up 10% from the previous year.

The largest operator, Vodafone Albania, reported investments totaling 1.6 billion lek, while One Albania invested around 920 million lek.

According to AKEP, approximately 90% of the reported investment value was directed toward improving broadband infrastructure for mobile networks.

Mobile service consumption figures continue to reflect a long-term trend toward greater internet usage and a decline in traditional voice calls and text messaging services.

Statistics show that the total volume of data transmitted over mobile networks last year reached approximately 260 million GB (gigabytes), an increase of 16% compared to the previous year.

On average, a mobile service user consumed 10.4 GB of data per month, also representing a 16% increase compared to the previous year.

The steady growth in internet usage and the expansion of 5G networks have led mobile operators to focus their investments primarily on increasing and improving internet transmission capacity.

Meanwhile, fixed-network operators invested approximately 3.3 billion lek in their infrastructure, an increase of 15% compared to the previous year. The fixed broadband market has remained highly competitive over the past decade, particularly in major urban centers, where population density is higher and operators have concentrated their infrastructure investments.

The average speed of fixed broadband connections continued to improve, with subscribers receiving speeds of more than 30 Mbps (megabits per second) accounting for approximately 89% of all fixed broadband subscribers in 2025.

A year earlier, subscribers with speeds exceeding 30 Mbps represented approximately 84% of the total. According to data reported to AKEP by market operators, total revenues in the electronic communications market reached 40.3 billion lek (approximately €400 million) last year, an increase of 2% compared to 2024.

The market's growth was driven entirely by the mobile services segment. The two mobile network operators, Vodafone Albania and One Albania, reported combined electronic communications revenues of 28.95 billion lek last year, up 3.7% from the previous year. Meanwhile, revenues from fixed-network services declined to 11.2 billion lek, representing a decrease of 3.8% compared to the previous year.
