Covid Battle, Minister Informs WHO Director on Albania's Capacities

Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu informed the Director of WHO for Europe Hans Kluge that 1600 dedicated beds are available for Covid battle.

As the Minister has previously explained, the regional hospitals will be used if needed according to three scenarios, depending on how the pandemic situation will evolve.

"The autumn-winter coping strategy, prepared by our experts and supported by WHO experts are important guides to address all needs in response to the epidemic situation, to strengthen the capacity of our health system during this phase. Without forgetting any moment that our task is to take care of those who need health care.

We have neglected no one. We are strengthening our capacities and coping with the situations that may come during the autumn-winter.

We have increased the testing and tracing capacities by 4 times. We have increased the hospital capacities by 500 beds. While we have 3 scenarios of inclusion of regional hospitals that bring this capacity to 1600 beds, as we continue with the training of medical teams," stressed Manastirliu.
