New details regarding the arrest of former leader of Durrës Gang, Lulzim Berisha, whose 3-year escape ended on Thursday morning in Spain, have been learned. 

Former leader of the Durrës gang was arrested in Madrid, Spain thanks to the cooperation of the Albanian Fast structure and that of Spain. 

With a hat, optical glasses, beard and tattoos, Lulzim Berisha had completely transformed from his image on the wanted list.  



In 2020, Lulzim Berisha was declared wanted by SPAK for 2 murders that occurred in 2005, that of Vajdin Lame and Klodian Saliu, which the investigators uncovered 15 years late.  

Later on, the case against Vajdin Lame was dismissed and continued only for Klodian Saliu. 

In addition to murders, Lulëzim Berisha's name is also associated with international drug trafficking, prostitution and arms trafficking.  

He was arrested on April 6, 2006 on 10 charges, including the creation of a criminal organization and a series of murders and assassinations committed in the years 98-99. 

On January 16, 2012, the Serious Crimes Court of the time sentenced him to life imprisonment for 6 murders, but the Supreme Court, in 2014, overturned the life imprisonment sentence and sentenced the former leader to 25 years in prison. of the Durrës gang. 

Lulzim Berisha spent 10 years and eight months in prison until on December 5, 2016, he was released from prison on parole and was employed in the Municipality of Durrës, with a controversial decision of the Court of Appeal. 

But on May 27, 2022, it was the Constitutional Court that decided to return to prison the former head of the Durres Gang, Lulzim Berisha, who seems to have been hiding in Spain to avoid facing justice.
