Dibra Residents Protest against HPP in Skavica

Some residents of the villages of Dibra have walked 70 km to protest near the construction site where the Skavica hydropower plant is being built.

They oppose the construction of the hydropower plant, as they fear if the Drin River is diverted and over 30 villages will be flooded. "There will be no more Dibra. It is a crime committed against Dibra."

They want the government to clarify the project. "We have come to tell the Albanian government that inshallah the day will not come when we will face them by force as Edi Rama is not doing transparency, " said the residents.

"I call on Edi Rama not to play with Dibra because he will play with himself. The prime minister who is not worth being called prime minister, is committing the biggest massacre in Dibra," said another one.

One of the residents of the area says that during the communism studies were done and it was decided not to build HPP in Skavica.
