Director Informed over Fire Situation in Albania
The Director of Emergencies, Leonard Qyra, informed Monday over the situation of fires in Albania.
In an interview for the local media, Qyra said that actually the situation is under control and the fires are being monitored.
"We are currently in the village of Kostar in Finiq. We have been facing a pretty intense fire since this morning. A hearth of fire caused since Sunday. Currently, there are fire brigades of the Municipality of Finiq, Delvinë, Konispol, Dropull, Himare and Saranda.
The most difficult situation has certainly been in the place where we are, because there are residential areas, it becomes more difficult to intervene, because of the terrain. This remains the most difficult area. We have it under control and it is not dangerous. It is difficult to intervene with tools. The reasons and causes are the most diverse. The most frequent are from the inhabitants themselves who burn crops and agricultural crops. They can't control the fire because they don't have fire extinguishers nearby. The fire spreads and grows. I do not believe that there is deliberate arson to harm tourism. It would be difficult to say. This would be absurd", he emphasized.
