Durres police have arrested a 26-year-old man following a car crash that killed an 18-year-old passenger, authorities said Thursday.

The accident occurred when the vehicle, driven by Arbër Xhaxhaj, lost control while he was reportedly intoxicated, collided with side barriers, and fell from the Dajlani Bridge from a height of about 30 meters, landing inside a flower shop. 

Two pedestrians were also injured in the crash and have received medical treatment.

Xhaxhaj was arrested on charges of traffic violations resulting in death and driving recklessly. He is currently under medical care and is out of life-threatening danger. Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
