Durrës Lawyers Join Boycott against New Court Map
Local Chamber of Advocates in Durrës has announced that its members will boycott the court hearings starting this Monday until June 29, as a contesting measure against the decision of High Judicial Council (HJC) on the new Judicial Map.
In line with this decision, the hearings will be boycotted for June 27-28-29 in the Durrës Judicial District Court, the Durrës Administrative Court, the Kavaja District Court and the Durrës Court of Appeal.
Also, it was announced that there will be a boycott of hearings on security measures in the above mentioned institutions as well as a boycott of all investigative actions at the Durrës and Kavaja Judicial District Prosecutor's Office, a boycott of all investigative actions at the Police Directorate of Durrës and Kavaja Judicial District.
Members of the Local Chamber of Advocates in Durrës have decided to repeal the lists mainly for the dates 27, 28, 29 June.
On its part, the HJC held on 10.06.2022, the plenary meeting dedicated to the "New Judicial Map", where it approved the final evaluation report of the Inter-Institutional Working Group on the reorganization of judicial districts and territorial jurisdiction of courts.
During the Plenary Meeting, the proposal for reorganization of the courts was approved as follows:
Reorganization of the courts of first instance of general jurisdiction, from twenty-two district courts to thirteen such courts, with territorial jurisdiction as follows:
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Berat, with headquarters in the city of Berat and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Berat, Dimal, Kuçovë, Skrapar and Poliçan;
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Dibër, with headquarters in the city of Peshkopi and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Dibër, Bulqiza, Mat and Klos;
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Durrës, with headquarters in the city of Durrës and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Durrës, Shijak, Kavaja and Rrogozhina;
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Elbasan, with headquarters in the city of Elbasan and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Elbasan, Cërrik, Belsh, Peqin, Gramsh, Librazhd and Prrenjas;
- Court of First Instance of General JurisdictionFier, with headquarters in the city of Fier and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Fier, Patos, Roskovec, Lushnje, Divjaka and Mallakastër;
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Gjirokastra, with headquarters in the city of Gjirokastra and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Gjirokastra, Libohova, Tepelena, Memaliaj, Përmet, Këlcyrë and Dropull;
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Lezha, with headquarters in the city of Lezha and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Lezha, Mirdita and Kurbin;
- Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction Korça, with headquarters in the city of Korça and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Korça, Maliq, Pustec, Kolonjë, Devoll and Pogradec;
- Court of First Instance of General JurisdictionKukës, with headquarters in the city of Kukës and territorial jurisdiction in the municipalities of Kukës, Has and Tropojë;
